MENU OF THE DAY: GUINATANG BILO BILO

It's an old family recipe and for some reason this gets cooked only on days of boredom.

Guinataang bilo-bilo is a kind of merienda. With gata, saging na saba, sweet potato, yam, ripe jackfruit, ground malagkit balled, sago, pandan.

My Lola Taba does this best. She knows the best gata yield.

I wish she could also teach me her morcon recipe but she's too old already. I remember she used to cook a lot when we were kids.

The cub is here beside me, hands raised up, hotdog pillows on each leg and almost snoring. She's learning to play with her yaya the mother told me. I'm starting to think of the three words I will teach her daily. I'll start writing them over the weekend.
